I also read that it has to download the 3GB file every time you play it unless you run Steam in offline mode, but perhaps I am reading this wrong.
I don't really care too much about the textures on foliage and the ground, so I don't know that it is even worth the download. I am using a few such as 'better females by bella' and a couple others. I have read elsewhere that the modded textures are actually better (2k).
There is a free 3GB texture pack DLC in the steam store. (Although I guess you'll need to backup the whole Skyrim folder) Install Steam at work, or some other computyer, then you can backup to a USB drive, and restore at your home computer Work doesn't have any issues with me downloading something and putting it on a thumb drive though. The reason I ask is I have a terrible internet connection at home (Steam is on my home computer) but have a super fast connection at work (Steam not allowed on work computers). Anyway to download this by not using Steam.
